Whether it is the snow shrouded New England landscape, or the elegant line where the sea meets the land; the simplicity of the French countryside or a Tuscan village, there is an intimate moment of serenity that Ms. Spillane strives to capture. She seeks inspiration in "the places I know by heart," scenes that resonate with peace and harmony. Using a limited palette of oils in her work, Ms. Spillane creates a complementary underpainting which, to quote one reviewer, "grounds the work in a wealth of voluptuous color." Ms. Spillane has also been working in oil pastel and oils on paper.
