I make images to express my inner worlds, perspectives, emotions and fears. I draw to expell the ugliness I absorb in the world and to exhault the rare beauty as well. Compositions of interconnectedness are the foundations of all of my work. I feel my inner compulsions are revealed in these webs as I simultaneously weave a way out towards freedom.

- This is a RECENT PAINTING, created 9/05. The title "Expanding" is a condensed version of "Expanding Out of Old Forms", which I decided was too personally specific for me to use as a title. I like things to be open enough for interpretation but guided or "inspired" by a simple phrase, word, or number. The full title relates to the experience of painting this. I have been absorbed in quilt like compositions, very blocky, for the past couple of years. This broke out of this, layering the lyrical, swirling linear marks over and through the gridwork. It feels like a breakthrough for me and I think I'm onto something....

- THis is a RECENT PAINTING - 9/05. In my own voice, but clearly Klimt inspired in many ways. This was created just before "Expanding". The similarities/differences between them reflect this "new level" I'm reaching for.
