Jodi Bonassi's work continues to portray people in the public settings of barbershops and cafes. "Times Star Barbers is currently being exhibited in the Particular Places Exhibition, curated by Bernard Chaet. Jodi has been developing another series, along with her continued studies, which explores a single woman's presence in different settings. This new series highlights the young woman lounging in a bathtub or sitting amidst a group of doors. Primarily self-taught, her visual narratives of day-to-day life have gained her reviews in the Los Angeles Times and the Boston Globe as well as other newspapers.

She has done Public Art Commissions for the City of Los Angeles, has lectured at Pierce College, and taught at various institutions. As quotetd by Cate McQuaid, Art Critic for the Boston Globe:"Jodi Bonassi gets the painting award for "Times Star Barbershop 1938", a narrative painting infused with nostalgia. It's rich with detail and well painted. The tiles swirling over the floor suggest that this flashback is about to fade. This is simply a feel-good artwork." Please visit the Gallery in Bergamot Station. You may contact Grey McGear at (310)3150925 to view or purchase the work.
